Hawaii’s Pre-travel Testing Program
For travelers arriving from the U.S. and its Territories, the state of Hawai‘i will ONLY accept Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab test results from TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS including tests or vaccinations verified through the state’s Digital Health Pass Partners – AZOVA, CLEAR and CommonPass. A negative COVID-19 test result or proof of U.S. vaccination is required prior to departure to avoid quarantine in Hawai‘i. Please link a digital health pass, or upload a negative COVID-19 test result to the Safe Travels platform.

COVID-19 Tests Available

Rapid COVID-19 Antibody Test
This test is used to detect COVID-19 antibodies. A positive antibody test result suggests the patient was recently infected by COVID-19 or has developed an immune response through vaccination. Results are available within 1 hour.

Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test
This test is used to rapidly detect an active COVID-19 infection in a patient. Results are generally reported within 1 hour.

Rapid COVID-19 Molecular NAAT Test
This test is used to rapidly detect an active COVID-19 infection in a patient. Results are generally reported within 1 hour.

Federal International Requirements
International Travelers
The State of Hawai‘i is in alignment with federal international requirements for passengers flying directly into Hawai‘i from an international destination. There will be no additional State of Hawaiʻi requirements. The airlines will screen passengers prior to their departure to the United States.
International passengers entering the U.S. from another state or territory will be treated as domestic travelers when entering the State of Hawai‘i. Unvaccinated passengers may use a Trusted Testing Partner for non-direct, international travel. The individual will be responsible to follow the pre-travel guidelines including the test is taken no more than 72 hours BEFORE boarding the final leg of their trip to Hawai‘i and the result must be uploaded prior to departure.
